The McCallie Soccer Camp packs plenty of soccer fun and learning into one week.

Chris Cushenbery, McCallie’s varsity soccer coach, directs the camp, staffed by experienced high school and college players. The camp aims to develop basic technical and tactical abilities which will enable the individual player to become versatile.

Various small-sided games allow players to learn and practice skills in the context of the game which makes learning fun and realistic. Players will be grouped by age and ability so each individual player receives appropriate challenges.

McCallie Soccer Camp offers a full-day camp, an extended-day camp and a boarding camp July 7 – 11 (Sunday – Thursday).  It also offers a half-day camp for younger campers July 15 – 19.

You are welcome to observe the instruction on any day at the Soccer Field. Please feel free to come out to meet the coaches and to help collect the player’s equipment on the Soccer Field.

What to Bring

  1. Both soccer cleats and athletic shoes because time will be spent both indoors and outdoors each day. An extra T-shirt is also helpful, especially if it is rainy.
  2. Each player will be given a camp ball on the first day, which will be labeled with the player’s initials. The ball should then be brought each day the rest of the week.
  3. All meals are provided, but players may want to bring snacks and/or change for drinks.
  4. Please, ensure that your camper brings his own water bottle or water cooler to camp each day. As a health precaution, it is imperative that each camper has one. Campers will be able to refill their water bottles or water coolers at the fields, but we will not provide cups for drinking out on the field.
  5. Please, provide your child with a distinctive towel (pure white is easily confused) and a swimsuit for swim time. McCallie Life Guards will conduct a swim test on the first day of camp. Please advise us if you’d prefer your player to not take part in swim time.
  6. Players must wear shin guards whenever any soccer activity is being engaged.
  7. Each player should have his or her own carry bag in order to keep track of all equipment and to be able to carry all belongings wherever he or she goes.
  8. Players will verify their desired T-shirt size at registration and be given a camp T-shirt on the last day of the session.

NOTE: Protective suntan lotion, and a baseball or painter’s cap are suggested for children who are sensitive to the sun.

This is a teaching camp. There are things we want all of our players at McCallie to know, things that we routinely see aren’t taught to young players, and our camp focuses on those. They include…

Proper laces ball striking to shoot with power
Turns that allow you to move possession forward while keeping the ball safe
The power of receiving across your body to create flow and the proper way to do it
1v1 attacking moves and how to set them up
1v1 defending
2v2 attacking combination play

And more!

Please let us know if your plans change and your child will not be attending camp so we can give the spot to another child.

Please pay by credit card or check before camp begins. A non-refundable $25 registration fee is included in the deposit. (This registration fee applies to the camp fee.) The remaining balance is due and will be charged to your method of payment 10 days before the session begins.
